The class contract is a student designed document which outlines how we plan to behave toward one another in the class. The contract is built on the foundation of the following 4 questions:
- How do you want to be treated by your teacher?
- How do you want to be treated by each other?
- How do you think your teacher wants to be treated by you?
- How should we treat each other in the midst of conflict?
The students are divided into 4 groups. Each group receives one of these questions for discussion. After discussion, the whole class will process each groups answers.
With just a little guidance, students are able to construct a classroom agreement that facilitates a positive learning environment.
